Why?

Jim McKelvey left a legacy of serving and helping others both as a fireman, as a family man, and as a good neighbor. In that spirit, North Branch wants to love our neighbors, as Jesus taught, and as Jim exemplified.

What?

There are 3 projects, each needing about 6-8 people in them:

  • Cemetery Repair. We are going to spruce up the cemetery by clearing out briars from the fencing, working on the driveway/road to drag/smooth, and repairing broken/felled tombstones. North Branch Cemetery is where Jim is buried.
  • Learning Gate landscaping. We will landscape the front of Learning Gate at 816 Old York Rd in Raritan NJ.
  • Habitat for Humanity. We will be working to complete construction of one of 2 single family homes Habitat For Humanity is constructing in the Somerset area of Franklin Township. Our assigned tasks will not be known until that day, but no special skills or tools will be required.
    • Worksite will be either 140 or 178 Churchill Avenue, Somerset (Franklin).TBA
    • Arrive at site 8:15 AM & Depart 1:00 PM. Carpool from NBRC optional (7:45 – 1:30)
    • Must be at least 18 years old
    • We are taking a maximum of 10 volunteers.

Where?

Except for the Habitat (see above) site, the plan is to start at North Branch Church, have a prayer and then move on to our individual project sites.
