Serving / Giving
Memorial Gifts: A special fund, the Memorial Gift Fund, is set up to accept special gifts (monetary or otherwise) which the donor designates in memory of a loved one or person. Checks should be made payable to “NBRC Memorial Gift Fund,” include information regarding the designee and should be mailed to the church office.
Mission Offering: A special offering for the various missions supported by NBRC through our Christian Mission Committee is collected on the first Sunday of each month. Special envelopes are provided in the pews and collected along with the regular offering during the offertory.
Food Bank: There is an increased need at this time for frozen meal trays and non-perishable food for the Food Bank and within our congregation. Please pick up some empty trays by the food barrel in Fellowship Hall and return them filled (include a meat, vegetable and starch) to the freezer in the kitchen or place non-perishable food in the food barrel. Thank You!
Children’s Clothing Challenge: Donate used children’s clothing in good condition, sizes infant to 18 for distribution to needy children in our local area. Please leave clothing in a plastic bag in the church basement outside the sorting room by the elevator. If you would like to help with sorting at NBRC, please contact Co-Coordinators Ellen Stires at (908) 369-5476 or Sue Bateman at (908) 369-6729.
Four Seasons of Giving: The Christian Mission Committee sponsors collection of specific items four times per year. These collections are:
• Winter (January, February & March) – Canned meats, canned and dried fruits & ethnic foods
• Spring (April, May & June) – Toiletries
• Summer (July, August & September) – School supplies and underwear and socks
• Fall (October, November, December) – Somerset County Jail Chaplaincy Children’s Gifts
A box is available in Fellowship Hall for your donations.
Kirkside Garage Sale: Kirkside’s semi-annual Garage Sale takes place twice a year in June and October. Donations of household items, small appliances, books, jewelry or other items (no furniture or large appliances) are greatly appreciated. Also, help is needed to set-up first thing in the morning, and then for the clean up at 2:00 PM. To make a donation, volunteer to help or for further information, contact Nancy Keeler (908–534-4740) or Diane Laich (908–526-6286).
B&G Clean-up/Project Days: The Building & Grounds Committee holds two clean-up days—in the fall and spring—during the year along with special project days. The type of chores that need to be addressed are sanctuary cleaning, window washing, leaf raking, stick/trash pick-up, bush trimming, weeding, painting and other maintenance items. All that is needed is an hour of your time to make these days successful. Call Bob Kiser (908-231-1391) or Diane Laich (908-526-6286) with any questions.
NBRC Habitat for Humanity Build Day: Once a year, volunteers from NBRC provide ten workers to help with a building project sponsored by Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity. For information, contact Pam Frueh (908-526-1859).
Eyeglasses Wanted: Your donations of used eyeglasses/frames for Eyes for the Needy can be placed in the box by the mailboxes next to the elevator.
Chancel Flowers: If you would like to provide the Sunday flower arrangement in memory of someone or just would like to provide an arrangement, there is a sign-up in Fellowship Hall. Contact Fred Yarnell, (908) 722-4759, for details.
