The commissioning for the new school year starts at our 9:15 am contemporary service, and children will be dismissed to church school classes at about 9:30 am.

To kick off the new school year, our doors will open at 8:30 am with a continental breakfast. You will be able to review the curriculum that the church school will be using, as well as register your child(ren) and explore the other exciting opportunities that are offered by NBRC before attending the commissioning service. Our Rally Day event will continue after the first service if you can’t join us earlier.

Swine Influenza A (H1N1) Virus Information for School and Childcare
Settings
April 27, 2009

No cases of swine influenza (H1N1), known as swine flu, have been detected
in New Jersey as of April 26, 2009. However, this is a rapidly evolving
situation. As more information becomes available and the situation unfolds,
guidance is likely to change in the upcoming days and weeks. It is
important for people to stay informed by monitoring information provided by
the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS).

Guidance for School and Childcare Settings
At this time, New Jersey recommends that schools and childcare settings
increase education on respiratory hygiene and monitor attendees for acute
febrile respiratory illness.

Staff and children (as developmentally appropriate) should all be taught and
asked to follow these steps that prevent the transmission of infections such
as influenza:

• Cover your coughs and sneezes.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
• Wash hands frequently, especially after coughing or sneezing.
• Stay home if youre sick, especially with a fever.

School or childcare participants with acute febrile respiratory illness,
regardless of travel history, should be sent home according to
facilities-established procedures with instructions to stay at home until
24-48 hours after their symptoms resolve. Instructions should be given to
seek medical care with worsening of symptoms. At this time, exclusion is
not recommended for school or childcare participants who have recently
traveled to an affected area and who do not have symptoms.

Disease Reporting and Consultation

To report suspected cases of swine influenza or outbreaks of influenza like
illness, please contact the local health department in the jurisdiction in
which the school is located.

We are interested in testing individuals presenting with influenza-like
illness (fever, cough, sore throat), mild respiratory illness (nasal
congestion, rhinorrhea) with or without fever, vomiting, diarrhea, myalgia,
headache, chills, fatigue, dyspnea and conjunctivitis.

Has had at least one potential exposure within 10 days of symptom onset as
listed below:
A.) History of travel to an area where swine influenza H1N1 documented in
animals and/or humans (see http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/investigation.htm );
OR
B.) Close contact (within 6 feet) to an ill patient who was confirmed or
suspected to have swine influenza; OR
C.) Close contact (within 6 feet) to an ill patient who has traveled to one
of the areas above; OR
D.) Recent exposure to pigs; OR
E.) Works with live influenza virus in a laboratory.

Soles4Souls is a non-profit organization that distributes shoes to needy children in the USA and worldwide.

If you are interested in participating, please bind each pair of shoes with a rubberband and include a $2 donation per pair ($10 maximum per family) so
that we can ship them to the Soles4Souls warehouse in Nashville.

There will be a drop-off box at the Preschool office door.

Over 300 million children around the world are without shoes.

Does your child have any shoes he or she has outgrown sitting idle in the closet?

This is an opportunity for our children to experience the concept of philanthropy with something that they can give on their own. We are collecting new and lightly worn shoes for Soles 4 Soles, a non-profit organization that distributes shoes to needy children in the U.S.A and worldwide. Together with their distribution partners, they currently provide shoes for children in over 45 states and 61 countries.

From March 2 – 27, please have your child bring in any shoes he or she no longer needs that are still in good condition. Please gather the pairs together with a rubber band. There will be a collection box set up in school with an envelope attached. We are asking for a two-dollar donation per pair to pay for shipping the shoes to the Soles 4 Souls warehouse in Nashville. However, there is a maximum shipping donation of $10 per family. Please place the rubber-banded shoes in the box and the shipping money in the envelope. I will collect the money daily, so you can use cash or a check made out to Jennifer Russo.

If you would like to learn more about the mission of Soles 4 Soles, you can check out the website, www.giveshoes.org. This should be a unique opportunity for our children to share with other children all over the world. Please consider having your child participate!

A percentage of the net sale will be donated to NBRC for our playground fund.

• The Learning Express in Branchburg will host a fundraiser for our Playground Fund on Wednesday, 12/3 and Wednesday, 12/10! Shoppers will save 10% and the Playground Fund will receive an additional 10% of all purchases. • Our wonderful Preschool parent volunteers will be collecting donations for wrapping gifts at Barnes and Noble in the Somerville Circle on Wednesday, 12/10 from 9:30am-12pm and again on Monday, 12/15 from 6-10pm. Anyone purchasing items from B&N may have their gift wrapped for free, though DONATIONS are greatly appreciated!
