Amy Nyland

The Rev. Dr. Nyland has served in ordained ministry since 2009, when she graduated from Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. She was ordained by Zeeland Classis, and her first call took her to Wisconsin, where she served as Associate Pastor. She came to the east coast in 2011 to accept a call to serve as Pastor at a church in the Hudson Valley. Rev. Dr. Nyland earned her Doctor of Ministry degree from Duke University Divinity School in 2021.

In 2014, Rev. Dr. Nyland was selected to serve as the Executive Minister for the Regional Synod of New York. She was the first woman in the history of the RCA to serve as Executive Minister for a Regional Synod. Rev. Dr. Nyland accepted God's call to leave the synod in 2020 to serve again as a Pastor at the First Reformed Church in Fishkill, New York. She is also an adjunct professor at New Brunswick Seminary and Duke University.

Rev. Dr. Nyland has three adult sons; Justin (31) is a machine operator and is married to Stacie, They have three beautiful young children and live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Joshua (28) is a graduate of Hope College where he was on the Cheerleading Team all four years. He lives in Grandville, Michigan. Josh is a project manager for a construction company and coaches high school varsity cheerleading. Joseph (26) is a veteran of the US Army and currently works as a diesel mechanic with Penske in Louisville, Kentucky where he lives with his dog, Pepper.

Rev. Nyland enjoys hiking, travel, cooking, and home improvement projects. She reads far more than anyone should and is a big fan of "Chopped". She spends a lot of time walking with her two dogs, Sofie (mini poodle) and Avi (standard poodle) who both very much enjoyed meeting the search team!
